Valley Volunteers – Working Party – Tree Planting

26 February, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pm

Meet at: South Hooe Cottage, Bere Alston, Yelverton, Devon, PL20 7BW. From Bere Alston take the Weir Quay and Hewton road, then keep straight on to Hewton and then fork right to Hooe, at the end of the lane. Narrow!
Leader: Dave Readman
Hedge and tree planting: At last! Your chance to get one back at the climate catastrophe and get some trees in the ground! Thanks to the Woodland Trust, we are planting several hundred metres of hedge across 2 fields, where a hedge was grubbed out in the last century. As well as the carbon-absorption properties of hundreds of trees, this will also quickly become a wildlife corridor linking the woodland of the Hooe peninsula with the river bank.
The more people planting the better the job; this is day one of 3 (also 11thand 18thMarch) so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Lunch and other refreshments provided. Wear sturdy footwear, gloves and be prepared for the weather on the day. All tools and training provided but bring a spade if you have it! And waterproofs….
So that we have an idea of numbers attending, please let Dave Readman know if you are coming; see below for contact details.  We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you.
