Coracle Making Weekend – 25th and 26th April
26 April, 2015 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Second day of weekend course – Build a Welsh style coracle using simple tools and techniques to suit all levels of experience and ability. The coracle has been around for thousands of years, evolving as a cheap, simple boat that anybody could make and use for all sorts of short river work, particularly fishing. Over the two days you will learn to select willow and hazel rods, techniques for bending them to shape, fixing and shaping the hull and tailoring the calico cover. You will have a chance to try one of our fleet of coracles in the water and will leave with your own finished coracle ready for painting.
The weekend will be spent in Lopwell Barn next to the Tavy estuary which has dormitory style accommodation, showers, toilets, lounge and a kitchen.
Cost: £400 per coracle (up to four people working on one coracle) including accommodation.
