In 1984 a small group of Calstock residents formed the Calstock Footpath Society.

They are now celebrating 30 years of the formation of the Calstock Footpath Society by offering a walk around Calstock Parish on Sunday 27 July 2014, finishing with a picnic on the green in the centre of Calstock. The total distance is about 7 miles, but will be split up into stages that you can join or leave as you wish.

The walk will start from Gunnislake station at 10am. (9.04 from Plymouth arrives 9.50). This section is a 1.5 mile walk through Drakewalls and then a gentle stroll up to Hingston Down with its fantastic views towards Plymouth. There will be a short break at Hingston Mine where others can join the group.

The next section is mostly downhill for 4 miles, and includes two stiles.  It will lead past Lower Mount Pleasant, Rising Sun, Harrowbarrow, Metherell and Newhouses through to Cotehele Quay.  Here there will be another short break for others to join.

The last 1.5 miles continues along the Tamar towards Calstock, arriving about 2pm.  Here the group will stop for their picnic on the green (or in the hall if wet), meeting up with other members of the CFS. Tea and coffee will be available.

All are welcome for all or part of the walk, or just for the picnic.  For further details or if you require information on how you can walk with us for part of the route contact Linda on calstockfootpath@gmail.com

Please wear suitable clothing and shoes and bring food to join our picnic on the green. Unfortunately this walk is unsuitable for dogs.
