Managing the AONB
Our vision statement is simple and summarises the aims and objectives of the AONB Management Plan:
"To ensure that by working together, the Tamar Valley AONB will be managed in a way that conserves and enhances its unique cultural identity and outstanding natural beauty for the benefit of all the people who live, work and visit the area, now and in the future."
The Tamar Valley AONB is a hugely important landscape and the Management Plan sets the agenda for its future. But without the activities of the local communities, farmers, landowners, businesses and visitors we would not be able to help influence, protect and conserve the future of the Tamar Valley AONB.
Each Local Authority controls land use and development within the AONB through a Development Plan. The plans for the area each contain specific planning policies that aim to protect the AONB by ensuring that development does not have a detrimental effect on the landscape.
