Support from Parish & Town Councils

There are lots of helpful links to support and guide you through these challenging times on many of the local parish or town council websites within the Tamar Valley.

From food & medicine deliveries and help to walk your dog, to a friendly voice at the end of a phone or even online church services, here are just some of the ways in which they can help you;

St Germans Parish

St Germans Star is a dedicated website, supporting and bringing together the community in and around St Germans during the pandemic. It provides information on local services, resources, deliveries and the doctors’ surgery, together with a fortnightly newsletter.

A really great resource for residents in this community.

St Mellion Parish Council

St Mellion Parish Council is helping to co-ordinate a register of those in isolation, who may need assistance during the pandemic.

A register of volunteers who can offer assistance by delivering supplies and/or communicating with those who are self isolating via email and phone is also being collated.

If you fall into either of these categories, please email the Parish clerk – clerk@stmellion-pc.gov.uk or register your interest via the St. Mellion & Pillaton Hub on Facebook.

Calstock Parish Council

If you’re feeling worried or anxious or haven’t been able to have a really good chat to someone recently, Calstock Parish Council have people they can put you in touch with who will be happy to make contact.  Please call them so that they can pass your number on to one of their volunteers.

Do you need your dog walking or looked after for a few hours?

Under Government guidelines we should only be going out for one walk a day but your dog may want to have more than one walk. In which case, please contact the Parish Council who can put you in touch with people who will gladly take your dog out for a walk.  There are also people who could look after your dog for a few hours if you are unable to.

Please call 01822 748847 or email clerk@calstockparishcouncil.gov.uk

Stoke Climsland Parish

This website includes the latest Stoke Climsland Newsletter with a lovely article from one of our hugely supportive Tamar Valley Partners, Martin Howlett, together with details on how to join in virtually with church services.

Details of food delivery within the community are also included.

If you are self isolating and need help, please contact parishclerkscpc@gmail.com or call 07878 368857. To register to volunteer, please email njcooperscpc@gmail.com or call 07525 351628.

Gulworthy

Local Parish Volunteers are working together to help anyone within this community who needs a hand in this time of social distancing and social isolation.

They are seeking to ensure that each household has links to a local volunteer who is a key contact for their local area. This is particularly important in this parish where households are dispersed across such a wide area.

If you’d like a chat, or would like help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, dog walking or anything else (within reason) please call 0800 622 6467.

If you’re interested in volunteering please email together@gulworthyparishcouncil.gov.uk with your name, address, contact number and how you’d like to help, or call 0800 622 6467.

Don’t forget your village, town or community Facebook pages that offer a wealth of support and contacts, and a way to feel more socially connected during this time.
