The Future For Weir Quay

18th February 2008
The public consultation event held in Bere Alston in early December, to discuss the future of Weir Quay, attracted an estimated 400 people.
Those who came were able to study maps, displays and documents setting out various options for the future of the area. Members of the steering committee were also on hand to answer questions.
Stalls with displays were mounted by the Tamar Valley AONB, Friends of Weir Quay, Cleave Estate, Weir Quay Sailing Club, Weir Quay Boatyard, Tamar Gig Club and Tamar Floating Classroom Project.
Those who attended were invited to fill in a feedback form and this was also available online for those who could not attend, with a deadline of 31st December.
The forms have now been examined in the presence of community representatives and out of a total of 375 forms with a clear options choice; 339 opted for Option 3 which was to make no changes at Weir Quay. Option 1, which was for limited change, received 27 votes and Option 2 (for more development of the facilities) received 9 votes.
Many of the forms included comments and these will now be analysed and a report presented to the next Steering Group meeting this month. The Steering Group will then decide on any further actions.
