Our goal is to provide people with the opportunity to enjoy the Tamar Valley’s distinctive and protected landscape; this may take the form of a promoted walking route, or better information about existing rights of way or permissive paths. We need to help all sorts of people to access our landscape, for the benefits of their health and well being. We are also aware of the contribution made by walking, cycling and horse-riding to the tourism economy.

In recent years significant investment has been put into creating new access routes within the Tamar Valley AONB and energy put into encouraging new audiences to access new parts of the Valley, both visitors and residents.
Much of the investment has been focused on the Tamar Valley Mining Heritage Project (TVMHP) and East Cornwall Regeneration Project (ECRP) areas. In turn, this investment has created opportunities for improving and extending access to other parts of the Valley. We have also recently refreshed the flagship Discovery Trail and improved the information we provide to help people to find their way around.
We also have an Access Strategy and we are now implementing our Access Action Plan which was approved by our Partnership in 2010 - Access Strategy- Action Plan.
