The Roman Fort at Calstock – illustrated talk

No-one was more surprised at the discovery of a Roman fort at Calstock than the archaeological team themselves. They had successfully identified a line of mediaeval silver smelting sites on the Bere Alston peninsula and quite reasonably expected to pick up the sequence on the Cornish bank where the Tamar took its great swerve at Calstock. Meet at: Cleave Woods entrance near Weir Quay, on the lane from Bere Alston. Park on the roadside.
