Valley Volunteers – Working Party – Cleave Woods
4 November, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Meet at: Cleave Woods entrance near Weir Quay, on the lane from Bere Alston. Park on the roadside. Satnav postcode: PL20 7BT. Grid reference SX436651
Access, safety (and coppicing at Morwellham Chapel): Bird nesting as over, the leaves are falling (or blown away!), so it’s time to cut away some low twigs and branches, as well as brambles on the paths around the woods. This will make the site safer over the winter for casual walkers.
If time allows we shall then head down to Morwellham Chapel to coppice young sycamore and hazel that are encroaching on the walls of the building. This should alleviate some of the winter damp issues at the chapel.
Bring good footwear, gloves and be prepared for the weather! Any tools needed will be provided, as will picnic lunch and hot drink refreshments.
Please let me know if you are able to attend and if you would like more information
