The Tamar Valley AONB is now a recognised AQA Training Centre and is delivering training through their Unit Award Scheme (UAS) for Volunteers from September 2014. AQA (Previously, Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) is an Awarding Body in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the Unit Award Scheme is nationally recognised and approved for use as a way of recording vocational achievement in all areas of work and activity.
The Scheme is included in the National Framework of Awards in Non-Formal Educational Settings and is a member of the Network for Accrediting Young People’s Achievement. Use of the Scheme has been praised in OFSTED reports, as being ‘an accessible form of accreditation and has introduced more rigour whilst retaining flexibility.’
Upcoming opportunities will be offered by the Heritage Lottery funded Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project, of which the Tamar Valley AONB is a partner. More details to be announced on the Devon Bat Project website.
