Mr David Lane (chair). As a graduate chemist David had a career with ICI. Before taking early retirement he managed a successful business sector within ICI Paints Division and had responsibility for developing new businesses based on innovative technology. He now lives in Calstock and is involved in several community activities including Calstock Development Trust, Calstock Village Hall and the Calstock Footpath Society. He has taken a particular interest in regeneration activities in the Tamar Valley and participated in preparation of MCTI and Parish Plans. David chaired the ‘South East Cornwall Regeneration Project’ delivering Objective 1 and has been a member of the Caradon LSP & Economic Executive.
Mr Peter Sleep. Peter studied economics at university and went on to qualify as a Chartered Management Accountant and work in a number of medium/large companies as various species of accountant/controller. After ten years he moved to management consultancy as a practitioner and ended up as director of finance for Arthur Andersen business consulting in Europe. Peter retired when Andersen disbanded to pursue a doctorate in astronomy. His other interests include geology, the mining and mineralogy of Cornwall & Devon, and other aspects of the natural history of the area.
Mr Jack Spears. Jack was born into a family of dairy farmers and attended the College of Estate Management before qualifying as a rural Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer. He worked for MAFF/ADAS and a land agent in Plymouth before becoming a partner in Kittows, agricultural auctioneers and valuers of Launceston. More recently he has worked as a consultant with Kivells and now Ward and Chowen of Tavistock. Jack has strong green credentials and is involved with local environmental societies. He is also a parish councillor.
